The ancient law books state a plain truth: “Ekah prajayate jantur eka eva praliyate; eko nubhunkte sukritam eka eva cha dushkritam” — Alone a being is born, alone it departs, alone it receives the fruit of its good deeds and its wrongs (Manusmriti 4.240). It is a sobering statement, and it describes every life, rich or poor, famous or unknown.
Mirabai lived this truth. Her family opposed her, society mocked her, and she walked away from the comforts of palace life, holding on to nothing but her unwavering devotion to Lord Krishna.
Her answer was a single line she sang for centuries: “Mere to Girdhar Gopal, dusrona koi” — For me there is only my Girdhar Gopal, and no other. In her solitude, she found a presence nobody could take away.
Today, spend ten minutes alone in quiet, with a mantra or a prayer, and treat it as a company rather than absence, a quiet appointment with the Divine. Then reach out to one person you know is lonely and offer them the companionship that you have just found.
