Yogi asks Govt, Opposition to raise public issues in House
Ahead of the Monsoon Session of the state legislature, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday urged representatives from both the ruling party and the opposition to raise every issue concerning public interest in the House.
He called on them to engage in healthy, constructive discussions and support the Government in accelerating the state’s development, appealing to Opposition parties to ensure the smooth functioning of the House.
On Sunday, the UP Government stated that Adityanath addressed an all-party meeting chaired by UP Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana at the Vidhan Bhavan. The meeting was convened to discuss the conduct of the Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature, which begins on Monday.
Addressing the meeting as the Leader of the House, Adityanath said, “The Monsoon Session should witness constructive discussions on issues concerning the common people. Such deliberations, he said, contribute to the state’s development and help resolve public grievances.”
Mahana also sought the cooperation of all members for the smooth conduct of the House.
On July 21, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved convening the State legislature’s third session of 2026 starting August 3. During this session, they will address the supplementary budget for the 2026-27 financial year and other legislative business.
The meeting was attended by UP’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya; Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna; Leader of the Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey; president of the Nishad Party and Cabinet Minister Dr Sanjay Nishad; president of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar; Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra; Raghuraj Pratap Singh ‘Raja Bhaiya’ of the Jansatta Dal Loktantrik Party; RK Patel of Apna Dal (S); and Rajpal Balyan of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, among others, the statement said.
Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council will meet on August 3 in accordance with constitutional provisions.
He said the Government will present the supplementary demands for grants for the 2026-27 financial year during the Monsoon Session.
Khanna said replacement bills for ordinances promulgated after the conclusion of the previous session will also be introduced and taken up for passage, besides other essential legislative and government business. The previous session of the State legislature was convened on April 30. Both Houses were adjourned sine die the same day before the session was formally prorogued on May 7.
