Yoga Day preparations reviewed in Kamrup ahead of district-level celebration

Preparations for the observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga in Kamrup district were reviewed at a meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office in Amingaon on Wednesday.
The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra, who assessed the arrangements being made for the district-level celebration scheduled to be held on June 21, 2026, at Gandhi Ashram in Sualkuchi. The programme will begin at 6.00 am and will be attended by the Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, as the chief guest.
During the meeting, officials discussed various logistical and administrative measures to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event. The District Commissioner emphasised the need for close coordination among all departments and stakeholders involved in the programme and urged them to extend full cooperation for its successful observance.
Among those present at the meeting were Senior Superintendent of Police Subhasish Baruah, Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Parishad Siddhartha Goswami, District Development Commissioner Susanta Kumar Dutta, Additional District Commissioners, Heads of Departments, and representatives of Gandhi Ashram, Sualkuchi.
The International Day of Yoga is observed annually on June 21 to promote the benefits of yoga and encourage healthy living.
The district administration is making comprehensive preparations to ensure the successful celebration of the occasion in Kamrup.
