Women drive India's clean energy transition

Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Delhi, hosted the programme “Women's Leadership in India's Clean Energy Transition: Closing the Gender Gap for a Net-Zero Future” on 23 September 2026. Organised by TERI under the StoREin Project, the event brought together stakeholders from government, industry, academia and civil society to discuss strengthening women's participation and leadership in renewable energy and energy storage.
Prof. Ranjana Jha, Vice Chancellor, IGDTUW, highlighted the importance of placing women at the centre of India's technological journey towards a net-zero future. The discussions focused on skilling, employment, entrepreneurship, innovation, workplace inclusion and institutional pathways for women in the clean energy sector.
The event also showcased innovative research and ideas by young women students through poster presentations on renewable energy, energy storage and smart technologies. The programme reinforced the need for women to emerge not only as beneficiaries but also as professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators and leaders shaping India's sustainable and net-zero future.
The StoREin Project, implemented by GIZ in cooperation with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, supports India's transition towards greater integration of renewable energy through energy storage.
