West Bengal to have two ‘CM Shri’ schools in every district : Adhikari

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday announced that every district in the state will have two ‘CM Shri’ schools aimed at improving the quality of education and promoting sports.

Speaking at a National Teachers’ Day programme, Adhikari said the initiative would be modelled on the Centre’s ‘PM Shri’ scheme and the selected schools would be equipped with modern technology and improved facilities.

He also announced plans to establish centres of excellence in sports in the northern and western districts of the state.

Adhikari stressed the need to improve the standard of education in state-run schools, saying students from West Bengal had fallen behind their counterparts in other states over the past few years.

“In terms of education infrastructure, we have to be among the top six states,” he said.

The chief minister urged teachers to take responsibility for helping students regain their academic footing and achieve higher levels of excellence.

The ‘CM Shri’ initiative is expected to focus on strengthening school infrastructure, introducing modern technology and creating better opportunities for students in both academics and sports.
