Viksit Bharat national pledge for everyone: Birla

Terming the resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat’ a national pledge that requires the active cooperation of every citizen and institution, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday emphasised that laws enacted in legislatures must align with the needs and aspirations of the new generation.
Inaugurating the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-II (North Zone) Conference at the Haryana Legislative Assembly Chamber, Birla stated that India is consistently moving forward on the foundation of long-term policies backed by a stable, strong, and robust legal framework.
The two-day conference is deliberating on the theme, ‘Role of an Aware Society and Representatives of the People in Facing Future Challenges and Realising the Goal of Viksit Bharat–2047’.
The inaugural session saw the participation of presiding officers from 12 states, alongside Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh, and Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan. The Speaker called for a massive mass movement (Janandolan) across the country to ensure that every citizen feels a sense of personal contribution toward building a developed nation.
Expressing confidence in India’s youth power, he noted that while the growing population was once viewed as a challenge, the youth demographic has now become India’s greatest strength. To leverage this, he suggested that policies must focus on skill development, quality education, and innovation.
Underlining the importance of public participation in a parliamentary democracy, Birla remarked that regular public discourse and meaningful debates should instil confidence among citizens that the House belongs to them and that their elected representatives are their true voice.
