Vijayapura: 4 Family members killed after house roof collapses during heavy rain

At least 4 members of a family were killed after the roof of their house collapsed due to heavy rain and strong winds in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district on last night.
The tragic incident took place in Moratagi village of Alamela taluk, where the family had been temporarily staying in an old rented house while renovation work was underway at their own home.
The deceased were identified as Gurunath Badiger, 35, his wife Jyoti Badiger, 28, and their two daughters, Kalamma Badiger, 13, and Keerthi Badiger, 9.
According to police officials, the family was asleep when the roof suddenly collapsed following intense rainfall and strong winds in the area. All four members got trapped under the debris and died on the spot.
Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services department rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations with the help of local villagers. Authorities cleared the rubble and recovered the bodies from the collapsed structure.
Police officials also visited the location and have started an investigation into the incident.
The tragedy comes amid heavy rainfall affecting several parts of Karnataka, raising concerns over the safety of old and weak structures during extreme weather conditions.
