VFS Global-led consortium wins contract to modernise property registration

VFS Global, in partnership with WE Excel Software Pvt. Ltd., has secured a five-year contract from the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) and Controller of Stamps under the Government of Maharashtra to establish 60 Model Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) across the state. The initiative is aimed at transforming Maharashtra’s property registration system into a faster, more transparent, and citizen-friendly process. The rollout will be executed in phases, with each centre designed to deliver efficient services through advanced digital infrastructure and modern facilities.
The consortium will handle the end-to-end setup and management of the Model SROs. These centres will feature fully air-conditioned environments, spacious waiting areas with Wi-Fi, and robust digital systems to ensure seamless processing. Trained service personnel will assist citizens throughout their visit, while additional amenities such as refreshments and water dispensers are expected to improve the overall experience.
Ravindra Binwade, Inspector General of Registration, said the initiative addresses persistent issues such as overcrowding, long queues, and outdated infrastructure in traditional SROs. Jiten Vyas, Chief Commercial Officer at VFS Global, described the project as a major step in advancing technology-led governance reforms.
