VCK likely to support Vijay led TVK in Tamil Nadu government formation

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) is expected to announce its support for actor-politician C Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the ongoing Tamil Nadu government formation process.
According to reports, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan is likely to formally declare the party’s decision soon. The VCK currently holds two seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
The development comes amid intense political negotiations following a fractured verdict in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where no party or alliance secured a clear majority.
TVK emerged as a major political force by winning 108 seats, including the seat contested by Vijay himself, but still remains short of the majority mark in the 234-member Assembly.
Meanwhile, fresh controversy erupted over claims of support from the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK).
AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran accused the TVK of submitting a photocopy of a “forged letter” to the Governor, allegedly showing support from the party’s lone MLA-elect Kamaraj.
In response, the TVK released a video claiming it showed Kamaraj personally writing and endorsing the support letter in favour of the Vijay-led party.
The political uncertainty in Tamil Nadu has intensified as parties continue negotiations to determine who will eventually form the next government in the state.
The Governor is yet to take a final decision on inviting a party or alliance to stake claim to form the government.
