US national held near India-Nepal border for entering India without valid documents

A United States national has been arrested near the India-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly entering India without valid travel documents. The individual, identified as Jordan Brown, was apprehended in Maharajganj district after security personnel intercepted him near an unauthorised border crossing.
According to police, he was unable to produce a valid passport or visa during questioning and has been booked under relevant provisions of the Foreigners Act and Passport Act.
Police said Brown claimed to be a former US Navy serviceman and told investigators he had travelled to nearly 70 countries. Authorities are now verifying his identity, travel history, and the circumstances under which he entered India.
Officials are also examining whether he used informal routes along the India-Nepal border and whether anyone assisted him during his journey.
The incident has prompted heightened vigilance along the Indo-Nepal border, where security agencies have recently intercepted several foreign nationals attempting to cross without valid documentation. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to determine Brown's motives and take further legal action if necessary.
