32-year-old dies minutes after alleged quack gives fever injection in UP

A 32-year-old man died minutes after a person allegedly posing as a medical practitioner administered an injection to him for fever in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district, police said on Sunday, August 30.

The incident took place in the Jasrathpur police station area, where the deceased, Ratnesh, had been suffering from fever.

According to his brother Bijendra, the family called a local man who runs a medical store in Nagla Himmat and also provides medical treatment at people's homes.

The family alleged that the man's condition deteriorated immediately after he administered an injection to Ratnesh and that he died within about five minutes.

The family rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Aliganj, where doctors declared him dead.

The person who allegedly administered the injection fled from the spot following the incident, the family claimed.

Police reached the spot after being informed and took the body into custody.

Jasrathpur Station House Officer Subodh Kumar Upadhyay said the body had been sent to the district headquarters for a post-mortem examination.

"Police are awaiting the post-mortem report. Further legal action will be taken based on its findings," he said.
