Udhampur operation expands after multiple terrorist sightings

A relentless chase to hunt down a group of Pakistani terrorists, spotted thrice in the general area of Majalta tehsil of Udhampur district in recent days, was expanded on Monday to prevent any other terror strike on a vital security installation in the region.
The ongoing search operations, launched in the Chore Motu and its adjoining villages of Majalta tehsil, in which a jawan of the special operations group was killed in action on December 15, were expanded to nearby forest areas to hunt them down. Between Saturday and Sunday, the same group of foreign terrorists have been spotted twice in the area.
On Saturday, hungry terrorists barged into the residence of a villager and ran away after taking food.
The same group was spotted once again on Sunday, prompting the security forces to launch a fresh chase to neutralise them.
The ongoing anti-terrorist operations have been supervised at the highest level by the senior army and police officials of the Jammu and Kashmir police.
The security forces have mobilised additional troops on the ground to plug the gaps and also pressed the services of the dog unit to track down their whereabouts inside the thickly forested area. The security forces are also relying on aerial surveillance to trace the whereabouts of these battle-hardened Pakistani terrorists. The villagers have been directed to keep a hawk’s eye on the suspicious movement of these foreign terrorists.
The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Nalin Prabhat, on Monday said the coordinated operations are aimed at dismantling the complete ecosystem of terror by eliminating its support system. DGP said that the security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), sympathisers, drug smugglers and those involved in hawala money rackets.
