UAE President calls PM Modi, discusses strategic ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke with United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who called to extend birthday greetings to the Indian leader.
The two leaders also reviewed developments in West Asia and discussed steps to further strengthen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, Modi and Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed their commitment to working closely on issues related to regional peace, security and stability. The conversation comes as India and the UAE continue to expand their engagement across a range of economic and strategic areas. The two countries have been strengthening cooperation in sectors including energy, defence, technology, investment and healthcare. In a post on X, Modi thanked the UAE president for his birthday wishes and described him as his "brother." He said the two leaders discussed further measures to advance their bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and stability in the region.
The UAE president also congratulated Modi on India's successful presidency of BRICS. Modi, in turn, expressed appreciation for the participation of UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the BRICS Summit and acknowledged the UAE's cooperation in helping India achieve substantive outcomes during its presidency.
The call highlights the continued high-level political engagement between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi, as both countries look to broaden their partnership beyond established areas of cooperation and develop closer links in emerging sectors.
Modi turned 76 on Thursday. The latest interaction with the UAE leadership comes amid India's efforts to maintain close diplomatic engagement with countries across West Asia and strengthen strategic and economic partnerships in the region.
The UAE President also congratulated the Prime Minister on India's successful BRICS Presidency. Modi appreciated the participation of UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled in the BRICS Summit and the UAE's cooperation and partnership in achieving substantive outcomes under India's presidency.
