Two teenage boys sexually assaulted a minor girl near Mumbai, detained

Two 17-year-old boys have been detained for allegedly sexually assulting a 14-year-old girl and recording the assault in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, a Palghar Police official said on Monday, August 17.

The victim became friends with one of the accused through Instagram. On July 11, he lured her to a local chawl under the pretext of discussing an urgent matter. He and his accomplice allegedly sexually assaulted the girl, filmed the act, and threatened to kill her brother if she disclosed the incident.

The crime surfaced on August 15 after the victim's uncle spotted the video online. Following a complaint by the survivor, police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the POCSO Act, and the IT Act.

Further investigation is underway.
