Two Army soldiers missing after boat capsizes in Yamuna at Hathnikund Barrage

A search and rescue operation was underway on Wednesday to trace two Army soldiers who went missing after a boat capsized in the Yamuna River at Hathnikund Barrage, officials said.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening during a joint watermanship training exercise at the barrage.
According to an official statement, the boat was caught in strong currents towards the downstream side of the barrage while the soldiers were undergoing training.
Teams attempted to retrieve the boat, but it became trapped in strong eddies around the sluice gates and subsequently capsized, sweeping the crew away in the fast-moving water.
“Two members of the crew are presently missing,” the statement said.
A joint search and rescue operation involving the Army, Air Force, local police and civil administration was launched following the incident.
All available resources are being deployed to locate and recover the missing soldiers, officials said.
The search operation was continuing on Wednesday.
