Vijay begins TVK roadshow in Dharapuram ahead of October 6 bypoll

TVK president C Joseph Vijay began a roadshow in the Dharapuram Assembly constituency on Sunday in support of party candidate P Sathyabama ahead of the October 6 bypoll.

Vijay left Chennai in a special aircraft around 11.30 am and reached Coimbatore at about 12.20 pm. He then travelled to Dharapuram by helicopter, according to TVK sources.

He was received in Dharapuram by senior party leaders, including TVK general secretary N Anand and senior leader K A Sengottaiyan.

Vijay began his campaign around 1 pm. The planned route covers more than 20 public-contact points across around 40 km in the Dharapuram area.

The roadshow is scheduled to pass through key stretches, including Periyar statue junction, Five Roads Junction and Meenakshipuram, before proceeding towards Kulathupalayam, Karaiyur and the Vanjiamman temple area.

Large crowds had gathered along the route from around 11 am, with Sunday being a holiday.

This is Vijay’s second campaign visit to the constituency, following his rally on September 30.

Polling for the Dharapuram and Madurantakam constituencies will be held on October 6, while counting of votes is scheduled for October 9.
