The Messenger Who Never Kept the Peace
Narada, the celestial messenger and constant traveller between worlds, was often mischievously blamed across the scriptures for stirring conflict wherever his travels took him.
Yet a closer look at his many stories reveals a rather different pattern underneath the mischief. Narada rarely lied or invented discord out of malice. He simply carried true information, often uncomfortable, sometimes deeply inconvenient, from one party to another, forcing hidden tensions and unspoken resentments into the open rather than allowing a false, fragile peace to persist undisturbed. His interventions frequently led to short-term conflict, arguments, confrontations, even temporary heartbreak, but they almost always resolved long-standing issues that had been quietly ignored, buried, or avoided for far too long by everyone involved. His somewhat mischievous role in these stories reminds us that peace built on avoidance is fragile at best, and that sometimes an uncomfortable truth, delivered honestly and without cruelty, does more lasting good for a relationship or a household than convenient, comfortable silence ever could manage on its own. We often prefer to avoid difficult conversations altogether, mistaking the temporary calm of silence for actual resolution, allowing real issues to quietly fester beneath a pleasant surface for months or even years.
