Production on 'The Batman Part II' temporarily paused as Matt Reeves takes break

Production on "The Batman Part II" has been temporarily paused as director Matt Reeves takes a break to focus on a family matter, Warner Bros and DC Studios said.
A representative of the studios shared the news in a statement obtained by Variety.
"Production on 'The Batman Part II' has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon," the statement said.
Robert Pattinson is set to return as the Caped Crusader in the sequel, which has faced multiple delays since it was announced.
The film was initially scheduled for release on October 2, 2026, before being pushed to October 1, 2027. Warner Bros further moved its release date in July to February 2028.
Reeves' first film, "The Batman", was released in March 2022, with Pattinson playing a young Bruce Wayne. The film also starred Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis.
The sequel features Pattinson alongside Scarlett Johansson, Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Serkis and Wright.
Pattinson recently described the upcoming film as a "different take" from its predecessor.
"It's so ambitious. I mean, I sort of said the other day on something that the first one was a different take on a Batman movie, and this one is another," Pattinson told Collider.
"It's a real left turn from the first one, but somehow it keeps elements of the kind of feel of it. But it just feels really ambitious, and I'm excited to see how it turns out," he added.
"The Batman", which presented a standalone version of the DC superhero separate from the wider DC Universe, grossed more than USD 770 million worldwide.
The film was followed by HBO's "The Penguin", starring Farrell as Oswald "Oz" Cobb, which explored Gotham's criminal underworld in the aftermath of the movie.
