Terrorist hunt on in J&K after villager freed

After eliminating a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Commander, Mohammad Asif alias Hashim Moosa, in the Central Kashmir district of Budgam, a fresh search was launched by the joint team of security forces in the forested areas of Rajouri and Udhampur districts after recording suspected movement of terrorists in the area on Sunday.
According to ground reports, suspected movement of a group of three terrorists came on the radar of the security forces after a villager was abducted by them late Saturday night from a forward area in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri.
The villagers alerted the security forces, following which a search was launched in the area. The abducted villager, identified as Anil Sudan, was later released by the suspected terrorists in the wee hours of Sunday after they reached a location near Dua Khad Forest around 3:15 am.
During the day, combing and search operations were intensified in different directions to track down the footprints of the suspected terrorists.
Till late evening, no contact was established between the security forces and the terrorists. Additional troops were also rushed to the area to plug the gaps and prevent the escape of the terrorists hiding in the jungle area.
In a separate anti-terrorist operation, a joint team of security forces also cordoned off the Mandugala Dhok forest in Rajouri after locals reported the movement of two persons wearing black dresses and carrying backpacks and weapons.
Another search operation was conducted at Chigli Keya village in Udhampur, the officials said.
On September 17, two Pakistani terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Majalta area of Udhampur, while one terrorist was reportedly injured but managed to escape.
