TERI’s 25th WSDS to focus on sustainable transformations

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is set to commence the silver jubilee edition of its flagship event, the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS), on Wednesday at the Taj Palace.
Under the theme “Transformations: Vision, Voices, and Values for Sustainable Development,” the three-day summit marks 25 years of the Global South’s leading platform for climate action and sustainability. The inaugural address will be delivered by Bharrat Jagdeo, Vice President of Guyana, alongside Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav.
The summit arrives at a critical juncture, following the first Global Stocktake under the Paris Agreement, which highlighted the urgent need for a 43 per cent reduction in global emissions by 2030.
A major highlight of this edition is the HIM-CONNECT Expo, an initiative by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Scheduled for February 26-27, the expo aims to bridge the gap between laboratory research and market-ready solutions for the fragile Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).
The exhibition will feature 24 innovators from premier institutions, including IITs and CSIR laboratories.
Showcased technologies will range from landslide prediction systems and solar heating to climate-resilient vernacular housing and waste upcycling, providing scalable pathways for mountain ecosystem adaptation.
To commemorate the milestone, TERI will launch an archival pocketbook titled “World Sustainable Development Summit (2001-2026): 25 Editions of Driving Ambition and Action on Sustainable Development.”
The publication chronicles the summit’s evolution from its inception to its current role in shaping global climate discourse.
High-level plenary sessions will cover clean energy acceleration, green manufacturing, and the “Climate Finance Imperative.” The summit will conclude on February 27 with a valedictory session titled “Reflections, Resurgence, and Resolve,” aimed at turning high-level dialogue into tangible delivery for a low-carbon future.
