Temperature to rise further in Gujarat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a further rise in temperatures across Gujarat, with several regions likely to experience heatwave conditions over the coming days.
According to weather officials, temperatures in many parts of the State are expected to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. A yellow alert for intense heat has been issued from May 9 to May 12 in view of the prevailing conditions.
At least eight cities in Gujarat have already recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. The IMD has warned that heatwave conditions may intensify between May 11 and May 12, particularly in Kutch and Saurashtra.
Heatwave conditions have also been forecast for Ahmedabad between May 11 and May 13.
Despite the intense heat forecast, the weather department has also indicated the possibility of isolated rainfall in parts of the state. Officials said cyclonic circulation and a trough system active over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh could trigger scattered showers in the adjoining districts of Gujarat.
