Nearly 29,000 Form 7 applications filed during SIR in Telangana: CEO

Nearly 29,000 Form 7 applications have been submitted in Telangana during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The forms are used to object to a proposed inclusion or request deletion of an existing elector's entry from the final electoral roll.
Hyderabad accounts for around 5,000 of the applications, followed by Siddipet and Sangareddy districts.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy, while sharing the latest status of the SIR exercise in the state on Thursday, said a total of 28,753 Form 7 applications had been received so far.
Reddy said applicants submitting Form 7 are required to specify the reason for seeking the objection or deletion, such as the person not residing at the given address, being deceased or having permanently migrated.
He added that Form 7 applications submitted by political parties would be subjected to detailed inquiry and verification before any action is taken.
“Special care is being taken while deciding the Form-7 received in bulk. All claims and objections will be placed on the website of the CEO, so that citizens are able to see the list and lodge objections, if any,” he said.
Of the 92.88 lakh electors who were either unmapped with SIR 2002 or had discrepancies in their enumeration forms, 55 lakh have already been marked for inclusion in the electoral rolls, the CEO said. Applications relating to the remaining electors were at different stages of processing.
Reddy said 4,43,183 people had submitted Form 6 for fresh enrolment. He clarified that during the SIR period, applicants are required to submit a declaration form along with Form 6, while the declaration will not be insisted upon during the non-SIR period.
Meanwhile, 3,35,187 electors have submitted Form 8 applications seeking changes to their voter ID details. These include requests for shifting residence within or outside a constituency, correction of particulars, replacement of EPIC without correction and marking of a PwD elector.
