Telangana to unveil Bharat Future City master plan at December global summit: CM
The Telangana government will unveil the master plan for Bharat Future City at the 'Invest Telangana Global Summit-2026' in December, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said on Thursday.
Speaking at the 'Praja Palana Dinotsavam' celebration organised by the state government here to mark the anniversary of the merger of the erstwhile Hyderabad State with the Indian Union, Reddy said the Future City, coming up on the outskirts of Hyderabad, would have specialised zones for skills, life sciences, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, healthcare and education.
The Young India Skills University, Life Sciences Hub, EV Park, AI City, Health City and Education City are among the proposed components of the Future City, he said.
Reddy said TCS had come forward to build the country's largest AI data centre in the Future City with an investment of Rs 70,000 crore, while Amazon had already begun construction of a data centre with an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore.
The chief minister also highlighted the state's development and welfare initiatives and said Telangana's per capita income had increased to Rs 4,18,931, nearly 91 per cent higher than the national average.
On infrastructure, he said projects such as the Regional Ring Road, greenfield highways, dry ports and industrial corridors connecting Hyderabad with Nagpur, Bengaluru and Vijayawada would help transform Telangana into a major developed state.
Road works worth Rs 13,000 crore under the Roads and Buildings Department and Rs 6,294 crore under the Panchayat Raj Department are currently under implementation, he said.
Reddy said the state government would revive the Musi river along a 55-km stretch under its Musi Rejuvenation Project.
He also said the government had launched TG Safe (Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs) to curb food adulteration and strengthened EAGLE (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) as part of efforts to make Telangana a drug-free state.
The government has set a goal of transforming Telangana into a USD 3-trillion economy by 2047 and is working to increase the state's share of India's GDP to 10 per cent, Reddy said.
The state has submitted proposals to the Centre for a 122.9-km Metro Phase-II expansion at a cost of Rs 38,595 crore, he said.
Approvals have also been secured for airports at Adilabad and Mamnoor in Warangal, with land acquisition under way, he added.
Reddy also spoke about the significance of September 17, saying the state observes it as Praja Palana Dinotsavam as the merger of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union marked the end of the Nizam's rule and the transition from monarchical rule to democratic governance.
Recalling the events surrounding the merger, he said former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and his deputy Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel "enforced" military action, known as Operation Polo, after recognising the aspirations and respecting the movements of the people of Hyderabad.
He said Hyderabad had witnessed significant growth in industry, agriculture, education and healthcare during the Nizam's rule, while rural Telangana suffered from feudal exploitation, bonded labour and oppression.
The atrocities allegedly committed by the Razakars, armed supporters of Nizam rule, led to turmoil and struggle in the region, he said.
Reddy said the Andhra Mahasabha and Hyderabad State Congress had led movements seeking Hyderabad's integration with India, while the Communists organised an armed struggle against the Razakars.
The chief minister also said the state was facing a rainfall deficit due to the impact of El Nino, while electricity demand had risen. He said the government was undertaking advance planning to ensure uninterrupted drinking water and power supply.
Efforts were also being made to generate more workdays under the VB-G RAM-G scheme, he said, and sought people's cooperation in dealing with the impact of deficient rainfall.
