Revanth Reddy Puts Disputed Section 22A Land at 3 Lakh Acres, Dismisses BRS-BJP's "1 Crore Acre" Charge

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has pushed back against Opposition claims that his government placed a crore acres of private land under the restrictive Section 22A list, telling Congress legislators the real figure for genuinely disputed private land is closer to 3.06 lakh acres.

The Chief Minister laid out his numbers at a Congress Legislature Party meeting on Thursday, ahead of Friday's Assembly debate on Section 22A properties, asking MLAs to use the breakdown to counter the Opposition on the House floor.

Of the roughly 2.5 crore acres notified on the state's Bhu Bharati land portal, around 1.01 crore acres fall into categories never eligible for registration in the first place — forest land (about 46 lakh acres), assigned land (26 lakh acres), government land (17 lakh acres), and land under irrigation projects, water bodies and shikam classification (around 12 lakh acres). These, he said, will stay under Section 22A permanently. What's left as genuinely contested private land, still being verified against revenue records, comes to just over 3 lakh acres.

Revanth accused BRS and BJP of deliberately blurring the line between non-transactable government land and actual private disputes, calling it a tactic meant to spook landowners.

He also referenced recent flashpoints involving BRS, including the Assembly gate confrontation and the standoff near KCR's Erravalli residence, citing an internal survey he said showed public sentiment turning against BRS. He criticised disruptive conduct in the House and disrespectful remarks aimed at police and the Speaker, adding that inquiries had been ordered.

Revanth further asked MLAs to maintain full attendance during the session, stay alert on the electoral rolls revision, which he alleged risked deleting a crore voters statewide, and press the Centre to adopt Telangana's caste census model nationally.
