Teenager among three held with heroin in J-K
Three suspected drug peddlers, including a 17-year-old boy, were apprehended along with heroin in the Samba and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Monday, August 10.
The teenager was intercepted late Sunday, August 9, evening while travelling on a motorcycle from Balole Khad towards JDA Colony in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba, a police spokesman said.
During checking, police recovered 3.36 grams of heroin from his possession and seized the contraband along with the motorcycle, the spokesman said.
A case under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against the teenager, who was produced before the competent authority and sent to the Observation Home at R S Pura, Jammu, the spokesman said.
In a separate case, police arrested two narcotics smugglers and seized 23 grams of heroin from their possession during checking at Galak in the Billawar area of Kathua district late Sunday, August 9, the spokesman said.
He identified the arrested peddlers as Pawan Dev Singh of Majalta, Udhampur, and Naresh Singh of Makwal-Ramkot, Kathua, adding that a case under the NDPS Act was registered against them.
