SC dismisses plea seeking Preamble recitation during school morning assemblies
By Pioneer News Service

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea seeking a direction to schools to recite the Preamble to the Constitution during morning assemblies.
A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Augustine George Masih and Sandeep Mehta rejected the petition with a brief "Dismissed" order.
The counsel appearing for the petitioner said the plea sought a direction for the Preamble to be recited during morning assemblies in schools.
The lawyer referred to Article 21A of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to education.
"The Preamble is already taught in schools in Class 6," the bench observed while rejecting the plea.
