South Coast Railway Zone launch fulfills long held dream: Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said the launch of the South Coast Railway Zone, headquartered in Visakhapatnam, marks the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream of the people of the State. He said it is a “historic milestone”.
The commencement of operations comes weeks after the railway ministry issued a gazette notification defining the jurisdiction and organisational structure of the SCoR.
The zone is expected to enhance rail connectivity, freight movement, and regional development.
“The official commencement of the South Coast Railway Zone, headquartered in Visakhapatnam, from June 1, is a historic milestone. A dream we have cherished for decades is becoming a reality,” Naidu said on X. He said the new railway zone will transform the transportation landscape of North Andhra and pave the way for new employment opportunities. He added that the railway zone will accelerate industrial growth and mark a crucial milestone in transforming Andhra into a logistics hub. He emphasised that this development will contribute significantly to the State’s economic progress, particularly in the north coastal region.
Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for fulfilling the long-pending aspiration of the people of Andhra through the operationalisation of the SCoR.
