Somnath gears up for Amrit Parv during PM’s visit

Extensive preparations are underway in Somnath ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit on May 11 for the ‘Somnath Amrit Parv’ celebrations, which are expected to draw nearly one lakh people.
A massive dome structure is being erected at Sadbhavana Ground for the main public gathering, while arrangements are also being intensified around the Triveni Sangam area and other key locations in the temple town.
Officials are preparing for a large-scale roadshow, public meeting and cultural programmes as part of the event. Around 1,600 state transport buses are expected to be deployed to facilitate the movement of attendees. According to preliminary schedules, the Prime Minister may arrive in the morning and leave later in the afternoon after participating in multiple events. Senior State officials and ministers have reviewed preparations at several meetings held in Somnath.
Gujarat Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani chaired a review meeting with senior administrative officers to assess arrangements related to security, crowd management, barricading and cultural events. Authorities also discussed plans for special programmes within the Somnath temple precincts, including a Surya Kiran air show and various cultural performances. Officials later visited key venues linked to the Prime Minister’s likely itinerary to inspect the ongoing preparations.
Several senior bureaucrats, public representatives and officials associated with the Somnath Trust and district administration attended the review meetings as preparations entered the final phase.
