Adityanath announces 1 lakh govt appointments in next six months
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday, August 25, announced that the state government will issue appointment letters to one lakh youths over the next six months, while asserting that more than 9.3 lakh government jobs have been provided since 2017 through a transparent recruitment process.
Addressing an appointment letter distribution programme in Lucknow, Adityanath said the government had ensured merit-based recruitment while following reservation norms and avoiding discrimination.
“It gives me pleasure to say that during this period, our government has succeeded in providing government jobs to more than 9,30,000 youths of Uttar Pradesh, and no one can raise a question over even a single appointment,” he said.
The chief minister was speaking at an event where appointment letters were distributed to 3,446 technical assistants and 126 market secretaries. Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Aulakh were also present.
Adityanath said recruitment examinations had been completed for several posts and results were being processed. He directed recruitment boards and commissions to shorten the timelines, saying young people should not have to wait indefinitely after appearing for examinations.
He said the government had set a target of completing recruitment within six months of receiving requisitions, with advertisements issued within a month and examinations and results completed in the subsequent months.
Taking aim at previous governments, Adityanath alleged that recruitment before 2017 was marred by corruption, political interference and examination irregularities. Without naming former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav, he referred to a “chacha-bhatija” duo and alleged that they were involved in collecting money during recruitment drives.
He said the previous system wasted the time and opportunities of young people, with recruitment cases often ending up in courts.
Adityanath also claimed that his government had acted against the “copying mafia” and strengthened the recruitment process through a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption and crime.
Highlighting changes in the education system, he said Uttar Pradesh Board examinations involving around 56 lakh students were now completed in 14 days, with results released within the next 14 days. The examination cycle, he said, had been reduced from around six months to one month while ensuring “copy-free” exams.
The chief minister said the more than 9.3 lakh government appointments had contributed to Uttar Pradesh's demographic dividend and claimed that the state's economy and per capita income had tripled.
He said youths were now receiving appointment letters “without transactions and without recommendations”, adding that Uttar Pradesh, once described as a “BIMARU state”, had emerged among India's top three economies.
