Nine killed, many injured after sleeper tourist bus catches fire on Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida

At least nine people were killed and several others injured after a sleeper tourist bus caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida early Thursday morning. More than 30 passengers were reportedly travelling on the bus when it suddenly caught fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, the bus was travelling from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba when the fire broke out. Most of the passengers were asleep at the time.

The blaze triggered panic among the passengers, with several of them escaping by jumping out through the windows of the bus.

The bus was seen engulfed in flames on the side of the expressway, with the fire rapidly spreading across the vehicle.

After receiving information about the incident, a fire brigade team and personnel from the Jewar police station reached the spot and began rescue and relief operations.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took stock of the situation and expressed condolences to the families of those killed. He also directed officials to ensure proper treatment for the injured.

Adityanath further instructed officials to provide all possible assistance to the families of the deceased.

Police and fire department teams are currently at the spot, while rescue and relief operations are underway.
