US Triple-C 2026 and Canada Triple-C 2026 online cryptic crossword challenge kick off

History was created on Sunday 5th, as the first-ever US Triple-C 2026 Crossword Challenge and Canada Triple-C 2026 Crossword Challenge commenced simultaneously with their Practice Round, marking a significant milestone in the global promotion of competitive cryptic crosswords.

The inaugural edition witnessed an overwhelming response from crossword enthusiasts across America and Canada, reflecting the growing popularity of cryptic crosswords and the success of the initiative in bringing together participants on a common international platform.

One of the most remarkable highlights of the US Triple-C 2026 Practice Round was that the Top 10 scorers represented 10 different states of the USA, namely New York, Missouri, Oregon, Connecticut, Virginia, Maryland, Texas, Mississippi, Virginia, California, an extraordinary and unique achievement that showcased the widespread reach of the championship and the depth of crossword talent across the country.

The US Triple-C 2026 – Practice Round Winners were Paolo Pasco from New York, Erik Agard based at Missouri and Matthew Theodore Marcus of Oregon.

While the Canada Triple-C 2026 – Practice Round Winners were Will Nediger, hailing from Ontario, Daniel Currie Hall of Nova Scotia and Rupert Marten Morris, also from Ontario.

The championships was organised by Extra-C, committed towards creating crossword awareness globally and WCWF (World Crossword Federation), with the support of Bihar Tourism, whose encouragement has played a vital role in taking this unique intellectual initiative to an international audience and Bihar Foundation and Bihar-Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA).

With the successful completion of the Practice Round, participants now look forward to the main championship. The First Online Round will be held on 12th July 2026, followed by the Second Online Round on 19th July 2026. The final results and championship winners will be announced on 26th July 2026, according to a Press release from the organisers.
