UP hosts Japan investment meet, unveils Japanese City in YEIDA

The Government of Uttar Pradesh organised the U.P.-Japan Investment Meet 2026 at Taj Palace, New Delhi, on Wednesday, bringing together more than 200 Japanese CEOs, Managing Directors, Country Heads and senior industry representatives to strengthen economic, industrial and technological cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Japan.

The event was addressed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Railways, Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Uttar Pradesh Finance & Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna.

In their addresses, the speakers highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s transformation over the past few years, emphasising improved law and order, rapid industrialisation, world-class infrastructure, investor-friendly policies and proactive governance. They said these developments have positioned the state as one of India’s attractive destinations for global investment and strengthened its contribution to the country’s economic growth.
Welcoming the Japanese delegation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underlined Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a major investment hub, supported by an extensive network of expressways, airports, industrial corridors, logistics infrastructure and seamless connectivity.

He invited Japanese companies to become active partners in Uttar Pradesh’s growth story and contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
The Chief Minister also announced the development of a dedicated “Japanese City” over approximately 500 acres in Sector-5A of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The proposed township will offer an integrated industrial, commercial and residential ecosystem for Japanese companies and citizens.

Yogi Adityanath invited Japanese investors to establish their presence in the proposed Japanese City and explore investment opportunities across Uttar Pradesh.
Groundbreaking ceremonies for major industrial projects.

A key highlight of the event was the Virtual Groundbreaking Ceremony (GBC) for two major industrial projects in the YEIDA region.

For Escorts Kubota Limited, a virtual groundbreaking ceremony was held for its manufacturing facility in Sector-10, YEIDA. The company has been allotted 154 acres of land for the project, which involves an investment of approximately `2,029 crore and is expected to generate around 4,000 employment opportunities.

The facility will manufacture approximately 60,000 tractors annually, along with a wide range of tractor and agricultural machinery components. The project is expected to further strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a hub for agricultural machinery and engineering manufacturing.

The event also featured the Virtual Groundbreaking Ceremony for Spark Minda Group’s manufacturing projects in Sectors 10 and 24 of YEIDA.
The projects involve a combined investment of approximately `1,166 crore and are expected to generate around 6,440 employment opportunities. The facilities will manufacture nearly 2 million units annually, including electronic switches, sensors, USB chargers and other automotive electronic components.

The investment is expected to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s automotive and electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
Focus on emerging sectors During his address, the Chief Minister identified Green Hydrogen, Solar Energy, Electronics, Medical Devices, Automotive Manufacturing, Semiconductors and Advanced Manufacturing as key sectors for future India-Japan collaboration.

He reiterated the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure, skilled manpower and a business-friendly environment to investors.
The event was attended by Deepak Kumar, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC), Government of Uttar Pradesh; Alok Kumar, Chairman, YEIDA; Rakesh Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, YEIDA; and Shailendra Kumar Bhatia, Additional Chief Executive Officer and Nodal Officer, Investment Cell, YEIDA, along with senior government officials and representatives of leading Indian and Japanese companies.

The U.P.-Japan Investment Meet 2026 marked another milestone in strengthening India-Japan economic relations and further reinforced Uttar Pradesh’s position as a preferred destination for global manufacturing and industrial investment.
