UP: 52-year-old man arrested for sexually assaulting minor girl in Amethi

A 52-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a village under the Mohanganj police station in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Thursday, July 30. 

According to the UP police, the girl's family filed a complaint on Wednesday, July 29, evening alleging that the teenager was sexually assaulted by the accused, Ayodhya Prasad.

The incident took place when Prasad, who is a neighbour, called the girl over to his place under the guise of some work and sexually assaulted her.

Mohanganj Station House Officer (SHO) Rakesh Kumar said that an FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Prasad was arrested following the complaint and will be produced before a local court today, July 30, the officer added.
