Uganda National in Bengaluru tests negative for Ebola after isolation, Officials confirm

A Uganda national who was placed under isolation in Bengaluru after reporting mild symptoms has tested negative for Ebola virus disease, health officials confirmed today.
The 28-year-old woman had recently travelled from Uganda, an East African country where Ebola cases have been reported in certain regions. As a precaution, she was admitted to the state-run Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Bengaluru for observation.
Officials said the patient experienced mild body ache symptoms, which prompted doctors to conduct detailed screening and send samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for testing.
The test results confirmed that she is not infected with Ebola, bringing relief to health authorities.
According to officials, the woman is currently in stable condition and recovering well. Health authorities have reiterated that no Ebola case has been confirmed in India so far.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare continues to monitor global Ebola outbreaks closely and has strengthened surveillance at entry points and healthcare facilities in line with WHO guidelines.
Authorities also urged the public not to panic and to rely only on verified official sources for information, while maintaining routine precautions under existing public health protocols.
The government said it remains vigilant and prepared, with continuous screening and monitoring systems in place across the country to prevent any potential spread of infectious diseases.
