Uber to set up first data center in India with Adani Group

Ride-hailing company Uber is set to establish its first data center in India in partnership with Adani Group, marking a major step in expanding its technology infrastructure in the country.
The announcement was made by Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi after meeting Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Sharing the update on social media, Khosrowshahi said the upcoming data center will help Uber test and deploy technology solutions at scale from India for global operations.
“Great to meet Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad this morning and build on our existing partnership with the Adani Group. As India fast emerges as a leading innovation hub for Uber, we are setting up our first data center in the country with the Adani Group to test and deploy our tech,” he wrote.
According to Uber, the facility is expected to become operational later this year. The company plans to use the data center to strengthen its domestic operations while also leveraging India’s growing technology ecosystem for global-scale innovation and development.
The partnership is seen as a significant boost for India’s digital infrastructure sector, with the Adani Group expected to play a key role in developing and supporting the project.
Recently, Gautam Adani had highlighted the growing importance of data and artificial intelligence, noting that countries such as China and the United States have already recognised the strategic value of digital intelligence and data infrastructure.
Uber’s move comes as several global technology firms continue expanding their investments in India amid rising demand for digital services, cloud infrastructure and AI-driven platforms.
