Twisha Sharma Case: Absconding Husband Samarth Singh Taken Into Custody, Bar Suspends Licence

Samarth Singh, the husband of model and actor Twisha Sharma, has been taken into police custody after remaining absconding for 10 days in connection with a dowry death case registered in Madhya Pradesh.

According to officials, Samarth Singh reached the Jabalpur district court on Friday to surrender but could not proceed as the court was not functioning at the time. He was subsequently taken into custody by the Jabalpur police and later handed over to the Bhopal police.

Police officials confirmed that he will now be interrogated as part of the ongoing investigation, and necessary seizures and legal procedures will follow before he is produced in court.

Samarth had been on the run for 10 days, and police had initially announced a reward of ₹10,000 for information leading to his arrest, which was later increased to ₹30,000.

His lawyer stated that he appeared before the court in disguise but was taken into custody when proceedings could not take place.

In a parallel development, the Bar Council of India suspended his legal licence citing the seriousness of the allegations against him.

The case is also being heard in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, where multiple petitions related to Twisha Sharma’s death are under consideration, including pleas for cancellation of anticipatory bail and a second postmortem at AIIMS Delhi.

The state government has indicated that it does not oppose the request for a second postmortem, while investigations continue into alleged evidence tampering and non-cooperation by accused family members.

Officials said the probe is ongoing and further legal action will depend on custodial interrogation and forensic findings.
