Tripura Police arrest main accused in Govinda Das murder case, Probe continues

Tripura Police have arrested the main accused in the murder of Govinda Das following a special operation carried out by a team from Amtali Police Station. The investigation is ongoing, with officials continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the fatal assault.
According to Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das, Govinda Das was allegedly attacked on the night of July 13 in the Rani Khamar area of Agartala. Following the incident, Amtali Police registered a case under Section 117(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Das, who had been undergoing treatment for his injuries at a hospital, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning. Following his death, police upgraded the case to murder and intensified the investigation.
Police said the principal accused, a resident of the same locality, was apprehended by the investigating team and produced before a court. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the accused, while efforts are underway to determine the motive behind the crime and identify any additional persons involved.
Officials said further investigation is in progress and additional legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the probe.
