Three workers killed in suspected chemical leak at Karnataka factory

Three workers were killed and two others were critically injured after a suspected chemical leak at a factory in Karnataka's Yadgir district early on Wednesday, Aug 5, police reported.

The incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. at a factory in the Kadechur-Badiala Industrial Area, where a suspected chemical leak caused workers on duty to suffocate, according to preliminary findings.

The deceased were identified as Vikram and Sanjay, both from Katni district in Madhya Pradesh, and Ganesh from Mahabubnagar district in Telangana. All three were migrant labourers.

The two injured workers were initially taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Three workers were declared dead on arrival, while one of the injured remained in critical condition.

Factory operations have been suspended following the incident.

Senior police officials visited the site, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the leak. Authorities are yet to identify the chemical involved.
