Three sisters die of electrocution after touching air cooler in Rajasthan

Three minor sisters from a tribal family died due to electrocution on Saturday after they accidentally came into contact with an air cooler in a hut located in a field in Fatehpur village, Baran, Rajasthan, police said.

The tragic event occurred around 7.30 am in Fatehpur village.

The victims were identified as Saloni (7), Avantika (4-5) and Sandhya (2), daughters of Madanlal Sahariya.

The family, belonging to a tribal community, originally hails from Guna district in Madhya Pradesh. Madanlal has been living in the village for the past year and a half, working as an agricultural labourer on a local farm.

On Saturday morning, while Madanlal was working in the field, his wife stepped away to a nearby residence for cattle-related chores.

The three young girls were left inside the farm hut when an electric current unexpectedly leaked into the air cooler. The girls came into contact with the cooler and were electrocuted, according to Circle Inspector Naval Kishore of Baran Sadar police station.

After the post-mortem, police returned the bodies to the family and have initiated an investigation into the incident, the CI said.
