The Boy Who Won by Staying Home

Once, Ganesha and his brother Kartikeya were challenged to a race around the world, with the prize going to whoever completed the circuit first. Kartikeya immediately set off on his peacock, eager to cover every continent and ocean.

Ganesha, instead, simply walked around his parents, Shiva and Parvati, seated together, and declared himself finished, explaining that they represented the entire universe to him, making a literal journey around the world unnecessary. His parents, moved by the depth of his understanding, declared him the winner.

We often equate achievement with distance covered, hours logged, or effort visibly displayed, mistaking motion for meaning. Ganesha's wisdom lay in recognizing that some truths do not require circling the globe to be understood, only clarity about what truly matters.

We chase external milestones, promotions, recognition, achievements, believing they will bring us closer to fulfilment, while overlooking the people and truths already within our reach.
