The Anti Auto Theft Squad of Delhi Police’s South District arrested a 24-year-old active member of a Thak-Thak gang on July 23, recovering a stolen TVS Jupiter scooty, a Lenovo laptop, Rs 7,000 in cash, and other stolen articles from his possession.

Delhi police linked the recoveries to theft cases registered at Defence Colony police station in Delhi and PS DLF Phase-II in Gurugram, and is working out two criminal cases in the process. The arrested man, Vinod, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in New Delhi, has 11 prior criminal cases registered against him across multiple police stations in Delhi, covering theft, attempt to commit robbery, and Arms Act violations going back to 2016.

DCP South District Anant Mittal confirmed the operation. The arrest followed specific secret information and technical surveillance by the AATS team, which had been actively tracing an accused in a Thak-Thak theft case registered at PS Defence Colony. The Thak-Thak method is a form of distraction theft with a distinctive signature.
