Telangana woman found dead in car boot, boyfriend detained

A 32-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, who kept her body in the boot of a car while planning to dispose of it, in Telangana's Hanamkonda district, police said on Friday.

Police reached the spot on Thursday night after receiving information that a foul smell was coming from a car parked in Elkathurthy mandal. On checking the vehicle, they found the woman's body wrapped in a blanket inside the boot.

Police identified the deceased through an Aadhaar card found in the car and informed her parents. The accused, a 34-year-old man, was also identified and taken into custody.

The woman and the accused were childhood friends, and he was also known to her parents, police said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly strangled the woman following a quarrel at his room in neighbouring Karimnagar district on August 18. He then allegedly placed her body in the car boot and planned to dispose of it.

The exact motive behind the murder is yet to be established, police said.

The woman, who had been divorced twice, was living with her parents and was suffering from epilepsy. Police said she had also been facing mental health difficulties.

She had recently stayed at the accused's room and was reportedly planning to visit a temple in Tamil Nadu with him.

Police said the circumstances leading to the murder were being investigated. A murder case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
