Telangana police official dies after service weapon allegedly misfires

A police official died in Telangana's Nizamabad district on Friday morning after his service weapon allegedly misfired while he was cleaning it, police said.

The incident took place at the Nizamabad police headquarters while the Reserve Inspector was cleaning the weapon, according to a police release.

Nizamabad Commissioner of Police P Sai Chaitanya reached the spot and inspected the scene, the release said.  (with inputs from PTI)
