Telangana CM tells officials to procure new Metro coaches

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to purchase new coaches for Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd in view of passenger rush and to expedite metro works in the Old City.

Reddy, who held a meeting with HMRL officials, said additional coaches need to be added to the metro trains in view of the rise in metro ridership and instructed them to take steps to acquire new coaches.

He told the officials to complete road expansion from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) to Chandrayangutta and to start the process of tenders for metro works in the 7.5 km corridor in Phase-2. He suggested consulting the Delhi Metro officials for assistance on the appropriate technology to be used in the 7.5 km corridor from MGBS to Chandrayangutta.

During the meeting, the CM also reviewed the preliminary arrangements for the ‘Invest Telangana Global Summit’ scheduled for December.

He stressed the need to ensure that the summit is organised on a par with international standards, specifically to woo global investments into Telangana.  He told the officials to submit a detailed report on the investments attracted and the progress made following the summit held last year.
