Teacher dies after falling from a bike taxi and being run over by a truck in Rohini

A 46-year-old MCD school teacher was killed after she allegedly fell from a bike taxi and was run over by a truck on Kanjhawala Road in Delhi’s Rohini on Thursday morning, police said.

The deceased was identified as Priyanka, a resident of Rama Vihar and a teacher at the MCD School in K-Block, Mangolpuri. She was on her way to school when the accident occurred.

According to police, they received a PCR call reporting the incident on Thursday morning. A police team rushed to the scene and found a truck loaded with bajri (sand) parked on the road, with the woman trapped beneath its left rear wheel. Police stated Priyanka had succumbed to her injuries by the time officers arrived. Preliminary investigations suggest she fell from the bike taxi before being crushed by the truck. However, the exact sequence of events remains under verification.

The body was transferred to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where it has been preserved following medico-legal formalities. The crime team inspected the crime scene, evidence was documented, and a case was registered under Sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said the owner of the truck involved has been contacted, and efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the absconding driver.

Investigators are also examining the role of the bike taxi rider, if any, in the incident as part of the ongoing investigation.
