TDP leader arrested for assaulting woman over water pump connection dispute in Andhra Pradesh

A local leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has been arrested in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district for allegedly assaulting a woman during a dispute over a water pump connection, police said. The incident took place on the night of July 15 in Krishnababu Colony under the Nallapadu police station limits and sparked outrage in the locality.

According to the police, the accused allegedly attacked the woman after an argument over the installation of a water pump connection. Investigators said the woman was physically assaulted, sustained bleeding injuries, and her clothes were torn during the altercation.

The accused is also alleged to have snatched her gold ornaments, mobile phone and other valuables. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the accused has been taken into custody.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected. The incident has drawn attention to concerns over violence arising from local civic disputes and prompted calls for strict action against those involved.
