Suvendu Adhikari calls for collective leadership in BJP, urges focus on ‘We and Not I’ principle

Senior BJP leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has emphasized the importance of collective leadership within the party, urging workers and functionaries to follow the principle of “we and not I” while working to strengthen the organisation and deliver on public expectations.

Addressing a preparatory meeting for the BJP’s special training camp in New Town near Kolkata, Adhikari said party workers should promote teamwork and inclusivity, ensuring that all stakeholders are taken along in the political process.

He stressed that BJP leaders, elected representatives, and grassroots workers must work in coordination to advance the party’s ideology, implement welfare initiatives, and fulfil promises made to voters.

Adhikari also highlighted the need for effective implementation of government policies at every administrative level, stating that development programmes should reach beneficiaries without obstacles. He called for greater engagement between party workers and elected representatives to monitor the execution of welfare schemes and public commitments.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Adhikari said the BJP remains committed to fulfilling assurances made to the people and meeting their expectations through phased implementation of its policy agenda.

The BJP leader further announced that the state government plans to establish a dedicated Ayush department, aligning with the Centre’s focus on traditional healthcare systems. He also spoke about environmental initiatives, including a large-scale tree plantation drive launched following World Environment Day.

In addition, Adhikari said assistance measures would be extended to families of BJP workers who lost their lives in incidents of political violence in the state.

The remarks come as the BJP intensifies organisational efforts in West Bengal and prepares its cadre for upcoming political and governance challenges.
