Six held with pistol, sharp-edged weapons in Jammu

Six alleged criminals were arrested and a pistol, ammunition and sharp-edged weapons recovered from them in Arnia area on the outskirts of Jammu on Monday, officials said.

The accused, all residents of Bishnah, are allegedly members of the Khouf Gang and were accused of threatening a local resident, Ashwani Kumar of Kool Kalan, on September 3 by displaying a pistol and tokkas, or sharp-edged weapons, the officials said.

Following a complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested all six accused, they said.

One pistol with a magazine, three live rounds and five tokkas were recovered from their possession, officials said.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the accused were involved in other criminal activities, they added.
