Shah hails Pradhan’s resignation
In a strong affirmation of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s stated priorities, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that for BJP workers, the country, its youth, and students matter more than any political post. He made this statement just hours after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned amid strong public pressure over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak controversy.
Shah posted on X, saying, “For the BJP, the nation, our youth and students hold far greater importance than any position.” He connected Pradhan’s resignation to this idea, showing the party’s focus on credibility and the hopes of young Indians over individual careers.
The resignation came after days of student protests and Opposition criticism over alleged problems with the NEET exam, which determines who gets into medical colleges. Paper leaks have been a recurring issue in India’s exam system, making many students lose trust after years of hard work.
Shah made clear that the Modi Government is listening. “Shah emphasised that the Modi Government is paying attention.
He wrote, “The Modi Government respects the sentiments of the country’s youth and is committed to implementing the necessary reforms against paper leaks.” He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong actions to punish those responsible for leaking exam papers or tampering with results. “Punishment for those guilty of paper leaks is commendable,” Shah said, expressing full confidence that these measures would “ensure complete justice for the students who succeeded in the NEET examination.” The emphasis on protecting the legitimate successes of honest candidates was deliberate, an attempt to reassure the majority who cleared the exam through hard work while signalling zero tolerance for malpractice.
Even as he addressed the controversy, Shah took care to situate Pradhan’s tenure within the broader context of educational reform.
As Education Minister, Pradhan led the rollout of the National Education Policy, promoted the use of mother tongues in exams, helped set up PM SHRI Schools, and pushed for digital education and skill development. He also worked to build stronger links between industry and academia. Shah said these efforts show a steady push to modernise India’s education system and make it more inclusive and ready for the future.
The Home Minister’s intervention serves multiple purposes. It seeks to calm student anxiety, reaffirm the government’s reformist credentials, and frame the resignation not as a setback but as a demonstration of accountability.
