Four killed as dumper rams e-rickshaw in Bihar's Saran

Four people were killed after a dumper allegedly went out of control, struck an electricity pole and then rammed into an e-rickshaw in Bihar's Saran district, police said on Monday, August 24.
The accident occurred around 8.30 pm on Sunday near the Sonho toll plaza on the Muzaffarpur-Chhapra road, Marhaura SDPO Savindra Kumar Das said.
Five people were travelling in the e-rickshaw when the dumper crashed into it, he said. Two of the passengers died at the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital in Parsa.
“The dumper reportedly went out of control, first hitting an electricity pole on the roadside and then ramming into an e-rickshaw. Five people were seated in the e-rickshaw. Two died on the spot and two others succumbed during treatment at a hospital in Parsa,” Das told PTI.
The bodies were handed over to the families after post-mortem examinations, the officer said.
The dumper driver fled the spot following the collision and has not yet been traced, police said.
A search is underway to locate and apprehend the driver, the SDPO added.
